Going Downhill

A couple days ago, I had one of my worse blonde moments. I had to use "the blonde excuse" when I was trying to get the snow off the roof of my car. It snowed a couple days ago, I guess I should have said that first. Anyway, my car had a few inches of snow on it and it was warm out so it was slowly melting, creating a non-stop stream of water down my windshield. It was one of those in-between windshield wipers moments, where having them on makes them squeak because it's too dry, but having them off gets me really OCD about the water droplets in front of my face. I know I'm a little neurotic, but anyway, I decided to get the snow off the roof by stopping short in a parking lot (don't worry, nothing dangerous). Before doing this, I had the brilliant idea of opening the sunroof a crack. My sunroof opens the normal way, but if you press the button forward rather than back, it just angles forward so that it's opened a crack in the back. I thought that this would make the snow slide forward and off of the car. It didn't and, of course, I forgot to close the sunroof. When I got to the parking lot, I made sure no one was around and hit the breaks pretty hard to get the snow to slide off the car. It worked, except rather than falling off the front of the car, it fell in the car through the crack in the sunroof. Brent and I got covered in icy cold slush. I wish I could say this is the first time this has happened to me....

The day wasn't all bad, though, because Brent took me to a burger place in Avon, where he lives, called Five Guys Burgers and Fries:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

They had the best burgers I have ever ever had, and I have had a lot of burgers in my lifetime. Apparently it's a chain, so if you find one in your area, definitely go.

My burger:

Later that night, Brent and I were cold so we decided to go get hot chocolate at a local diner. When the hot chocolate came out, Brent's had an enormous mountain of whipped cream on top. I asked Brent not to eat any yet because I wanted to get a picture, but he got excited and stuck his face in it before I could get my camera:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I swear he's five years old.

After hot chocolate, we came back to school and got to bed early because we were skiing the next morning. Here's the last picture I took, it's of the statue we pass on the way to school. I thought it looked cool in the snow:

Yesterday, Brent and I went skiing at Ski Sundown in New Hartford, CT. It wasn't a very long drive and we had a really nice day. Hardly anyone was there because it was just a random Tuesday so there were no lines for the chair lift or anything. I brought my camera with me but, very uncharacteristically, forgot to take any pictures! Oh well. You can check out the website if you want to see what it's like.

Well that's all for now. Today was our first day back to classes (we had Monday and Tuesday off) so I've been super busy but will hopefully find something fun to post about soon. Goodnight everyone!

So Busy

So this is midterm week which doesn't really mean a whole lot since I have regular classes and a couple midterms on completely random days, but I am extremely busy, hence the lack of new entries. I have a bunch of pictures and things to talk about, but no time =(

For now, check out this site: Internet Superstars

There are a lot of funny videos to keep you all entertained, so enjoy!

Check Again

This is actually just to let everyone know that I wrote my Philadelphia post in a hurry and forgot a few pictures which I have now edited. If you're interested, scroll through my Philadelphia entry again for the updates, there's no new writing, just pictures. Thanks everyone!

Philadelphia

Sorry I haven't posted in a little while, but I just spent the weekend in Philadelphia with four of my very best friends, Cathy, Kristina, Molly, and Vanessa. Cathy and I both go to college in Connecticut, so we met at home in Greenwich early Saturday morning and headed off to Pennsylvania. We got lost in White Plains somewhere and had to ask directions in the middle of a terrifying ghetto area at a Tiger Mart:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

We eventually figured it out and made it there with only one incident. We were in the middle lane and a truck that was directly parallel to us on our right switched lanes ON TOP OF US!!! What an idiot. Luckily, Cathy steered us away from death and we made it to Philly in one piece. When we got there, we picked up Molly from La Salle, met Kristina at St. Joe's, and headed off to Villanova to pick up Vanessa for the King of Prussia Mall, the second biggest mall in America! The mall was amazing and I got a new Christian Dior lipstick that I love. We ate lunch at a restaurant in the mall where I accidentally ruined Cathy's birthday forever. Just to give you a little background, Cathy and her brother Mike are born exactly two years apart, to the day... exactly nine months after their dad's birthday. I thought they knew that already, oops.

Later that night, we went back to Molly's dorm to pick up some of her stuff for later, including a bunch of random mini alcohol bottles that, unless I heard wrong, she claims to have discovered somewhere in her underwear drawer:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Don't worry, she's not actually drinking them in the car. I don't know what Molly is doing in this next picture, but a panty hat with Chanel glasses is definitely her look:

We went to Vanessa's where we all got ready to go out while drinking Arbor Mist (it's not lame, we're all girls so it's ok). After getting ready, we walked to the train station to go into the city of Philadelphia.

Me, Molly, Kristina, Cathy, and Vanessa at the train station:

We went to a BYOB restaurant in Philadelphia called El Azteca:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Everyone in the restaurant was definitely in college, probably because it's BYOB and they'll make you margaritas if you bring your own tequila. We brought a bottle of tequila and had them use it all to make a few pitchers of margaritas for us which were delicious.

Cathy, Kristina, and I took a group trip to the bathroom where there was a very interesting setup:

We didn't want anyone to hear us peeing so we all sang the Tequila song at the top of our lungs and made quite a spectacle. Do do do do do do do do Do do do do do do do TEQUILA!

We're obviously not very good at taking pictures:

This one is a little better:

Back at the table, I gave Vanessa a little too much ice:

I'm going to call the rest of the train station section, "Molly Getting Sloppy." You'll see why.

When we got back to Villanova, we hung out with a few of Vanessa's friends at her apartment:

And Molly ate some of the most disgusting looking leftover Mexican food ever:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

My shoes turned my feet blue!
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Vanessa was talking with her friends for a little while while Molly, Cathy, Kristina, and I were in Vanessa's bedroom talking. Molly climbed into my sleeping bag with me and we all ended up passing out on the floor until Vanessa came and got us around 3:30am. Molly, Cathy, and I cuddled on Vanessa's futon all night with Kristina on an air mattress on the floor. Sleeping with Molly in between us, Cathy and I had an interesting night of Molly talking in her sleep, asking for back rubs at 4am, and hitting... a lot. It's always an adventure.

The next morning, we packed up all our things and headed back home after having some Dunkin' Donuts for breakfast. Cathy and I are definitely coming back soon, hopefully for a little longer next time.

On the drive home, a car tried to kill Cathy and me again! Some guy was tailgating really badly so Cathy got out of the way and pulled into the middle lane. He then drove right in front of us and slammed on the breaks in the middle of the highway twice with no one in front of him while traffic was going steadily at 70/75mph! Cathy didn't hit him, which is what I'm sure he wanted, so he pulled up right next to us and started yelling through his window. We called the police and I hope he gets arrested for something. The rest of the car trip home was uneventful, we only got lost once and then ended up in ridiculous traffic:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

We were bored and had nothing to do so I read Cathy the dirty porno stories from the back of Cosmopolitan in my sexy voice. We had never actually read them before, but they're absolutely hilarious. I've never read anything so absurd.

Well that's all for now, I hope everyone comes to visit me sometime soon and thank you Vanessa for letting us all stay with you!!

$45,000 Laundry

It's been a while now that I've been meaning to do an entry or an exposé, should I say, on the laundry situation here at Trinity. I don't think I even need to explain anything, but Mom and Dad, this is what $45,000 a year is getting you!

Moving on, a few nights ago when Brent and I were watching "Prison Break" we had one of the most stereotypical college student dinners ever:

We're gross, but it was so good.

Just one last thing to get myself caught up, on Friday, Brent and I went to a Movable Joints performance. The Movable Joints is Trinity's improv team and they do "Who's Line is it Anyway"-esque stuff and it was actually really funny. I got Brent to take a couple pictures:

More Skydiving

Before I go back and add the pictures that have gotten nearly a week out of order now, I wanted to put up the few pictures I took when Brent and I were indoor skydiving.

First, here's the bottom of the wind tunnel that kept us in the air:

And here's the part we flew in:

Brent getting excited about flying:

After flying, Brent and I tried to take a picture of the bright red circles around our eyes from the really tight goggles we had to wear, but you can't really see it in the picture. Oh well, I'll put it up anyway:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

These are some of the last pictures of Brent you'll see with hair. He pulled a Britney Spears and shaved it all off because he got sick of it! Well, not all of it, but it's about 1/4" now. It actually looks good, he reminds me of the inmates from "Prison Break."

Skyventure New Hampshire:

Sunset on the drive home (that's Hartford off in the distance, it doesn't look so bad when it's just a silhouette):

The Capitol Building:

Ok, well that's it for indoor skydiving pictures. I'll have my catch-up entry soon, but for now I have to read One Hundred Years of Solitude for my English class (we're supposed to be finished, I'm on p. 120 of 416...).

I hope everyone else gets to enjoy the beautiful weather in New England today, it probably won't last.

Indoor Skydiving

So I'm getting a little out of order here (I still have some pictures from last week that I haven't posted) but I know a lot of people have been waiting to see the video from indoor skydiving on Saturday, so I have to give the people what they want.

This past Saturday, Brent and I went to Skyventure NH, an indoor skydiving place in, you guessed it, New Hampshire. It was about a two hour drive from school and was definitely worth the trip. The way it works, is that you get inside a vertical wind tunnel and... fly! It was awesome and we're both dying to go back. Our instructor's name was Shane and we highly recommend him if you choose to give Skyventure a try. Anyway, we got the DVD of our flight and it's Brent, Me, and one other guy (and our instructors, of course). The other guy was a little weird, mostly because of how he runs with his hands in the air. Our video had no sound because you can't pick up sound in a wind tunnel without it being entirely static and Brent and I thought that was boring so we added some music and played around with the speed of the other guy's part of the video (basically, we sped it up because a. he looked funny and b. we got bored watching him because, well, he's not us). Anyway, the video quality is pretty bad because it's a copy of a copy, but what can you do. Brent and I are labeled so that you can tell when it's us and not the other guy. The video is a little under 8 minutes long so please be patient and let it load if it takes a while.

Indoor Skydiving:

I have more pictures from skydiving to put up, but I'll get to those later. Goodnight everyone!

Finally Winter

For all my fellow New Englanders, we finally got our Winter! We haven't had any significant snow this year up until Valentine's Day when we got about 5-6" I'd say. Luckily Brent and I had already gone on our Valentine's Day date so the icy roads didn't interfere with anything. The deal that Brent and I made for Valentine's Day was that we were each going to make homemade cards and take each other out on a special date as our presents to each other. Brent took the romantic route with Casablanca and a fancy dinner for his date, and tomorrow we go indoor skydiving for my date! I'll obviously post pictures and videos for that ASAP, but for now here are the homemade cards.

Brent's card for me is actually 32 Over the Hedge Valentines that he pasted together with heart stickers to make one gigantic card for me:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I tried to make Brent a pop-up card of one of my favorite memories of last year when we were in Naples we would eat breakfast together in these big Adirondack chairs overlooking the golf course and it was one of the quietest, most peaceful places ever. The card came out a little weird, but I tried:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Brent also left this for me on my white-board:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Because of the snow, classes were canceled (snow day!) but also all of the on-campus food places were closed, leaving us children stranded with nowhere to go and nothing to eat. Brent and I packed up some snacks in the super-cool skull and crossbones lunch pail I gave him a little while ago and tried to find somewhere to go to get out of the dorms:

Snow!

Anyway, I have to go because Brent is waiting for me to watch "Prison Break" with him. Have a great weekend everyone!

Be Mine

Happy Belated Valentine's Day again, to everyone reading! I hope you all had as nice a Valentine's Day as I did. Brent and I actually celebrated our Valentine's Day early, on the 13th, because (as Brent explained already on his blog) our school's movie theater wasn't playing Casablanca on the 14th this year. Since we met our first year of college, Brent and I have gone to Casablanca at Cinestudio (Trinity's awesome movie theater) every Valentine's Day. It's a great movie, and I found this movie montage of it online:

If you haven't seen Casablanca, definitely go rent it, or wait until next Valentine's Day and see it at Cinestudio.

After our movie, Brent and I went to Max's Oyster Bar and Grill, one of our favorite nice restaurants in West Hartford. Brent and I started with "Crispy Tempura Rock Shrimp," then Brent had "Furikake Encrusted Yellowfin Tuna" and I had "Cedar Roasted Scottish Organic Salmon" and for dessert we split "White and Dark Chocolate Mousse Cake." I found the names for everything on the menu which you should check out, because everything is amazing.

Anyway, I have some random pictures of our recent snowstorm that I'll put up soon, so check back. Goodnight!

Kindergarteners With Machetes

Yes, that's right:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I really don't understand why Starbucks tries to put interesting quotes on their cups, because they don't make any sense... ever. This one basically says that you shouldn't send your children into the kindergarten jungle with machetes. That never would have occurred to me. Lunchbox? Check. Thermos? Check. Backpack? Check. Machete? Ch-- Nope! Not this time, Starbucks said no.

Anyway, I liked this car's license plate:

A couple nights ago, I made Brent a batch of cupcakes in my Easy Bake Oven. I made an oreo cake a while ago that came out delicious, but ugly, so I didn't blog about it. If you don't have an Easy Bake Oven, you really should get one:

Starbucks Shenanigans

I realize I haven't posted with anything substantial in a long time, and that's because of this one stupid video I've been trying to upload for DAYS! For some reason, the internet in my dorm room is almost as slow as dial-up so it has taken me forever to get my videos uploaded and ready for blogging. The videos aren't even that exciting, but once I had committed to it I didn't feel like I could skip posting them. They'll be at the bottom of this entry.

First, Brent and I went to Ruby Tuesday's in the Westfarms mall for dinner a little while ago and ordered the most delicious chocolate cake ever. It was layers of chocolate cake, oreos, caramel, and who knows what else. Luckily, we ordered one to share because it was HUGE! I had to take pictures, obviously:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

On the drive home from the mall that night, there was an accident on one of the main roads going through Hartford / West Hartford. The front of this person's car got completely ripped off! There were a lot of cops in the street and we didn't want to be the annoying people flashing the camera, so that's why it's a little blurry. I also have to give Brent credit for this picture which he took by holding the camera out the sunroof of my car:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Here's Brent STILL wearing flip-flops in February!!
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I got bored watching Brent pump gas the next day, so I decided to photograph him through the rear-view mirror. Here are two Brents:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

On Saturday, Brent and I had quite a bit of reading to do for our English class, so we spent the afternoon at Starbucks. I could say that we go to Starbucks to do work sometimes because we think it's a good working environment, that it's quieter than school (it's not), or that we thoroughly enjoy their $5 coffees as opposed to the meal-plan coffee we get here for free (well, that's true), but mostly we just get really claustrophobic at school. I can't stand spending too much time in my room, it's just so small. I really don't think it's that much different from the jail cells Brent will be blogging about from his visit to Alcatraz, except in its pinkness. I also doubt the prisoners had Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen purple shag carpeting, well maybe. Anyway, one of the things we both like to get at Starbucks are these Izze sparkling juices. The best one is definitely pomegranate:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

So Brent and I sat in Starbucks sipping our sparkling juices while reading The Master and Margarita for English when some guy in Tevas with socks (the horror!) walked in and started playing his guitar. His name was Seth, and he was actually really good! Here are the last of my pictures and videos from Starbucks.

What's the Capital of London?

So, I'm still up right now (at 6:39am) because I have a geography quiz today! Geography! Anyone who knows me knows that I have no concept of geography. Yes, I did ask, once, what the capitol of London was. I have also been known to say such things as "Is Montreal the one in Long Island?" "Is Puerto Rico attached to Spain?" "I thought Africa was a country!" "What part of Mexico is Aruba in?" "Since when is Egypt not a continent?" "Why did this map put England on some island?" and "I want to go to a foreign country this summer, like Hawaii!" Suffice to say, I don't do geography, but if you were to ask me the capital of ANY country in the entire world right now, I could tell you. Did you know there are 193 official countries? Or something like that.... The capitol of Vanuatu is Port-Vila, the capitol of Slovenia is Ljubljana, the capitol of Turkmenistan is Ashgabat! I'm so good. I'm excited about breakfast (aka coffee) so I'll post again later today with something more fun. Wish me luck!!!

Decaf

Are any of you readers the parent of a rambunctious five year old? If so, I'm so terribly sorry. Really. Let me recount for you all how much caffeine Brent has had today, so you understand what I'm talking about: 1 Venti (large, for you non-Starbucksians) Cafe Mocha with three shots of espresso, 1 Venti Cafe Mocha with 2 shots of espresso, 1 Large Pepsi, and 1 "Red Eye" (coffee with 2 shots of espresso). For those of you who are interested (this should be everyone!) Brent has just posted on Yes. Considerably, his blog which is now in capital letters with a period rather than a comma! He's growing up so fast. He asked me to direct you all there and to let you know that his entry is (his words) "all nambly pambly." It made perfect sense to me when I read it, but I'm used to his antics.

Anyway, Brent asked me to recount for you all the International Relations incident he created this morning in class. It's actually not that interesting of a story, but I don't want to mess with someone with a 10:1 caffeine to blood ratio right now, so here it goes.

Brent is one of those "say something" people. You all know the kind, the ones who just have to say something. He's the guy who sees the other guy wearing a hat and has to say "Nice hat man, you like the Sox too?" or "I'd rather bump my head than burn in a fire!" (Yes, he actually provided this as a comment in our Constitutional Law class today. I'm not even going to attempt to give some sort of context). Suffice to say, Brent is liken to the perfume ladies at the cosmetics counters in Bloomingdales, if you make eye-contact it's all over... there's no escape.

This habit of his, of course, translates to the classroom, as well. It's not even that Brent has a comment to make, or that a question was even asked, Brent just likes to say things. In our International Relations class this morning, to make a point, our professor said "It's like asking the old which came first, the chicken or the egg question," to which Brent's hand immediately shot up in the air while simultaneously exclaiming "It's the egg!" I tried to move down the bench we were sitting on and give him the same "Are you serious?" look everyone else was giving him to dissociate myself, but no such luck. To make matters worse, Brent then answered the question "What do the Realists think of this?" by saying that they're more realistic. If only he hadn't prefaced his answer with an explanation for why he's explaining that the answer is that the Realists are, in fact, realistic. It went something along the lines of "Well, the Realists are... and I don't want this to seem... well you know... they're just... I'm just saying... (more heads turning, wondering if it's really the egg kid again) ...just to clarify... I realize this is the same word.... but... (yes, it's the egg kid again) the Realists are more... realistic."

I think that's all there really needs to be said. We all know the say something people, there are enough of them that there's no person in this world left un-approached.

To be fair, I guess I have to make fun of myself, too. Looking back on the following conversation knowing what I know now, I realize the humor in what I was saying, but at the time... well here it goes.

To explain the situation, Brent and I were at Starbucks discussing The Master and Margarita, the book we're both reading for English class. One part of the book talks about Pontius Pilate who is apparently a major figure in Christian history. I guess I didn't pay much attention in Sunday school because I had never heard the name before. Sorry Mom and Dad, this is going to paint a very dubious picture of my religious upbringing.

ME: So who is that Pontius Pilate guy? (Pronouncing it pi-lah-tee)
BRENT: You mean Pilate? (Pronouncing it pahy-luht -- like pilot)
ME: No, pi-lah-tee, it's spelled like the exercise, pilates.
BRENT: You're an idiot. It's pahy-luht and he's the guy who was responsible for killing Jesus.
ME: I'm pretty sure that was some king, something with an "H" like King Howard or King Hal.
BRENT: King Herod? (Sounds just like Harrods!)
ME: No, that's a department store in London.

I've been making good use of The Blonde Excuse lately, and no, I don't mean this blog. Just the other night I told my mom that I wanted to go to a foreign country for the summer... like Hawaii. Oh well, whatever. I'm done for the night. Don't forget to check out Yes. Considerably!

Masquerade Ball

So this past Saturday, Trinity had its Masquerade Ball. Brent and I made a last-minute decision not to wear our nice outfits because no one really cares and we'd probably stand out for dressing up really nicely, hence our ball-inappropriate outfits (aka jeans, etc.). Brent and I, therefore, had the cheapest costumes ever, $3 masks from iParty. We didn't do a whole lot because we decided that the party was sorta lame, so most of the pictures are just of Brent and me messing around with the camera. Here you go.

Brent and I ordered pizza when we got back home because we hadn't eaten dinner that night. We ordered from a new pizza place called Sgt. Pepper's and their pizza was delicious! We also got free fried dough which was amazing, it's like little lumps of pizza crust covered in powdered sugar.

In other news, Brent has finally started posting again on his blog, yes, considerably. His new and improved look almost makes up for the month and a half without posting. He promises to update regularly now and with lots of pictures from Winter break. Check it out!

That Puppy Got Trounced!

"That puppy got trounced!" Brent exclaimed, as we watched the Super Bowl alternative... The Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet. It's a miniature football field filled with puppies running around tackling each other and playing with toys and a kitten halftime show. Basically, it's some quality television programming.

Brent watched the normal Super Bowl too, but he let us flip back and forth between the two since his team wasn't playing anyway.

Last night, Brent and I went to the Masquerade Ball here at Trinity but I'm not going to post those pictures until later. First, I have a few randoms taken over the past few days.

Whenever I decide that I haven't had anything to blog about in a while, I always get Brent to take a bunch of "We're about to go out and do something!" pictures with me. I know they're really lame and you've all seen these before in various outfits and locations, but here they are once again. We didn't agree on which ones were the best, so here are a bunch (thank you for humoring me).

Brent getting upset that I'm making him take pictures when he's trying to play video games:

And to mix it up... Brent put on his new leather jacket and I donned my black headband! We're so crazy:

Brent took this picture in the rear-view mirror of a car that still has a Christmas wreath in February:

This bumper sticker actually said "My llama is smarter than your honor student" but we were moving so it came out really blurry. I hate the "My whatever is smarter than your honor student" bumper stickers almost as much as I hate the "I'm the proud parent of an honor student" ones, but the fact that this one somehow incorporated a llama made it more than acceptable:

Has anyone else noticed that Starbucks cups have the stupidest quotes ever? What is this guy even trying to say?

Well that's all for now, but check back soon for pictures from the Masquerade Ball. Tonight, Brent and I are catching the late showing of The Messengers, a scary movie that I've been waiting to see. Brent hates scary movies but he's being very brave and coming out to see this one with me. I'll report back on how it is, but I hope everyone is enjoying the Super Bowl and for those of you who aren't (my female readers) turn to Animal Planet ASAP!

What's Breakfast?

Tuesday morning, Brent woke me up at 6:30am to go out and get breakfast with him. I haven't seen 6:30am in a long, long time but I guess it wasn't really that bad after the shock of an eleven degree walk to the car woke me up. Brent knew a breakfast place about 35mins away in Simsbury that he had been wanting to take me to and decided that we could go before class. I brought my camera along to provide proof that we did, in fact, wake up for breakfast (a definite first).

This picture was actually taken the night before of the sunset, but I wanted to include it anyway:

Brent told me that this is either the oldest or biggest tree in the state of Connecticut (I have no idea why he knows this). It definitely doesn't look like it could be the biggest, so I think it's probably the oldest:

Brent was right, breakfast was delicious and worth the trip... maybe even worth waking up at 6:30am. Here are a few pictures we took in Simsbury on the drive home:

Brent and I went to the reservoir on Avon Mountain where we went painting slash "hiking" once before. By hiking I really mean walking, but hiking sounds better. Anyway....

We were way too cold to hang out at the reservoir, so we decided to come back to school and get ready for class. Anyway, it was a lot of fun and hopefully we'll do it again sometime, maybe not so early.
