Another Beautiful Evening at the Beach

At night, my parents and I quite often take a quick drive around Tod's Point to see the sunset. As usual, it was a beautiful view and I took a bunch of pictures:

See that little black dot out on the water?

This is the life:

Of course I tried once again to get a picture of the eagle in the nest, but instead I found these two... hawks maybe?

I'm still waiting on that eagle!

And last but not least, the Tod's Point Turkey who has been there every night this summer:

UPDATE: A Blonde Excuse reader just informed me that those birds are not hawks but osprey!

Love the pictures, especially the one with the seagull. Also love Tom Turkey!

Hi Lauren, very nice pictures. I love being by the water and only rarely get to see oceans. I looked up Tod's Point on a map and it appears to be part of the Long Island Sound. Dumb question, but is it salt water or fresh since rivers empty into it?

Hawks in the Eagle nest? Isn't there some sort of territory issue with that? Like the eagle might get his feathers ruffled and attack the hawks? I think maybe the eagle has abandoned ship and the hawks moved in!

Sorry to drop in unannounced. Just linked to your blog from Smitten Kitchen. I thought you might want to know that those are osprey, also known as seahawks or fish eagles. They nest by the shore, have characteristically messy nests (that you got a great picture of), eat fish, and are recognizable by their white heads and bellies. So, there you go.
